I. Comparison between DC brushed motor and DC brushless motor:
1. Structure:

The essential difference between a DC brushed motor and a DC brushless motor is that one contains a carbon brush and the other does not contain a carbon brush.

2. Operating principle

The DC brush motor realizes the motor operation through the interaction between the carbon brush and the commutator;

Brushless DC motors achieve motor operation through the interaction between electronic drive circuits and electromagnetic fields;

3. Performance comparison

a. Noise

When the DC brush motor is running, the noise of the motor is high due to the contact between the carbon brush and the commutator;

b. life

Brushless DC motors have a long life. The service life of this motor mainly depends on the bearing. Generally, the service life of the motor is more than 30,000 hours.

c. Electromagnetic interference (EMC)

DC brushed motors have strong electromagnetic radiation. Frequent switching of motor brushes will cause strong electromagnetic interference to other electronic equipment.

DC brushless motors are driven by electronic circuits, which greatly suppress the generation of electromagnetic interference. It is especially suitable for use in clinical medicine, medical
equipment and some high-precision electronic equipment.

d. Motor efficiency

DC brushed motors have low efficiency. When the motor is running, the constant friction between the carbon brush and the commutator, the pressure drop loss between the carbon
brushes, plus some mechanical loss and electromagnetic loss, so the overall efficiency of the motor is low.

       The efficiency of the brushless DC motor is high. When the motor is running, the loss between the carbon brush and the commutator is completely eliminated, and the rare earth
permanent magnet with high coercive force and high remanence is used, so the efficiency of the motor is greatly improved during operation.

e. Speed control

Brushed DC motors are regulated by voltage, which is relatively simple and convenient, but will be limited when the speed is relatively low;

DC brushless motor can also be adjusted by voltage, but it can also be adjusted by PWM, which is more convenient for speed control at low speed.

f. Maintenance

Brushed DC motors need to be cleaned and brushes replaced regularly;

Brushless DC motors are basically maintenance-free;

g. Costs

DC brushed motor is low cost and easy to operate;
